SEED is Sports for Education and Economic Development. SEED Academy providing opportunities for the next generation of elite basketball student-athletes and coaches

Launched in 2002 in Senegal by the current Basketball Africa League and NBA Africa President Amadou Gallo-Fall, the SEED Academy is the first basketball student-athlete academy in Africa. SEED Academy uses education and basketball to develop the next generation of African leaders, while developing future basketball talents on the field of play.

Former NBA Player and currently President of Basketball Operations for G-League’s Westchester Knicks, Pops Mensah-Bonsu launched the SEED Academy in Ghana (SAG) in 2018 to help support and enhance the development basketball, coaching and infrastructure for the sport.

Working in partnership with the GBBA, SEED Academy Ghana’s primary goal is to provide opportunities for grassroots and elite student-athletes through mentoring, coaching, signposting for future talents. While working in partnership with the national governing body to enhance the development of coaches across Ghana, infrastructure for national teams and be a support system where needed.
